was rumi a slow walker?

“The world is filled with people like Shams of Tabriz but where are the men like Rumi to see the truth in them?”Fundamentals of Rumi’s Thought by Sefik Can, page 67.

I think I must pass many wise people when I go throughout my day. Wise with a capital “W”. Wise about the ice on the pond and the gunshots and the meditation pillow and the swastikas and all the police who are not in prison.

I think I must pass many wise people, and yet we all walk so fast these days. How can I even have time to begin to see the truth in them?

  1. Really good point. How do you get to see the truth in others when we are all so busy. I have just joined two online communities about consciously evolving. I am learning their truths and it feels so right after 10 years of solitude.

  2. This is so true. There is an African proverb that goes like this: “When an old man dies, a library burns to the ground”. You are right Lena, there are a lot of wise people that we miss in our rushing. Plus we are quick to admire those who look like they have made it. Thank you for the food for thought. 🙂

    1. Thank you for sharing that proverb, I love it! And you are so right that sometimes it isn’t that people that “look the role” or are already receiving a lot of attention for wisdom that are indeed wise. Wisdom comes in mysterious forms and places. Thanks for your comment!

      1. You are most welcome. And little children have lessons for us too. Our intestines hold wisdom. Indeed ” wisdom comes in mysterious forms and places.” Now for us to listen. 🙂
